The choice is simple: pay Favre his huge salary and cut key players from the team, or trade Favre and add talent to the squad. The only setback to trading Favre is that he might help another football team for a season or two.
The New York Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers have both indicated that they\'d been interested in trading for Favre. If Green Bay could work out a deal with the Jets, it would end any setback related to helping another team win football games. The Jets play in the AFC, the opposite conference from the Packers and share the AFC East Division with powerhouse New England Patriots. There\'s very little chance that the Jets would make NFL Playoffs, or get in the way of the Packers this year.
That fact that the Jets likely will not make the postseason is the very reason why Favre won\'t be suited up in a Broadway Joe Namath jersey this season! Brett Favre is 38 years old and his biggest concern is playing for a Super Bowl contender. He\'s not interested in coming back to finish the season with a 6-10 Jets squad.
